DESIGN | Poritz & Studio Tool Box

As I type this, I'm trying to figure out the right way to express my opinion without coming off as overly snarky because I really don't want to criticize these gorgeous tool boxes or their designer. In fact, I love these boxes a lot a lot a lot. I'll just say it: I don't think tools need to be housed in walnut or tropical teak, right? I mean, they're tools! When I first saw these boxes I thought, FINALLY!...

DESIGN | Nobl Acrylic Cacti

Just a fun mid-week distraction...I'm loving these acrylic cacti sculptures and table lamps by San Francisco-based artist Nobel Truong. Truong makes ceramics and furniture as well as prints and textiles in addition to her cacti lamps and sculptures. Her designs are inspired by Bauhaus architects and the Memphis Group—which I'm definitely seeing here. Prices range from $25-$59 and they're made in...

DESIGN | SDE Quilts

S.D. Evansout of Brooklyn is creating some incredible heirloom-quality quilts and wall hangings that are so great I can barely stand it. Each quilt is a handmade, one of kind piece made from natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, vintage yukata cotton, and leather. The quilts clearly honor traditional patterns, but S.D. Evans has effortlessly added a contemporary aesthetic. I think of these pieces...

DESIGN | Coasters

Every year as gift giving season approaches(earlier and earlier), I find myself less and less prepared and more and more filled with panic. In attempt to get ahead of the game and simplify, I've decided there's one item that seems to work for everyone: a nice set of coasters. They are easy, fun, not too personal, one-size-fits-all, and work really nicely for a host/hostess gift (and can be cheaper...

DESIGN | Pastrana Studio

Aptly described as the intersection of Texas and Danish Modern, Pastrana Studio, a husband and wife team outside of Denton, TX. (just north of Dallas), is my latest home discovery. Timeless, hand-made, rich and refined, I'm so attracted to Pastrana pieces, especially their Boxcar Stool ($195), which could be a side table or a seat. I'm on board with these guys. Very on board.

DESIGN | Menus of the 50s and 60s

As fashion continues to take design cues from the 20th century—from 50s architecture (Dana Lee's Spring/Summer collection was inspired by the color palette of Russel Wrightas one example) to 80s surfwear and outdoor brands—this trove of old restaurant menus from the 1950s and 1960s seemed like a fun share. I love how playful they are and the colors and fonts are endlessly inspirational. All found...
