BASE LAYER | Winter Face Care

By Kristi Head

Keeping skin quenched is a keystone to a healthy luminous face during the dry winter months. Here are some suggestions to keep your skin nourished and supple through snow storms, space heaters, windy cities and flights home for the holidays.

Clockwise from top left:
To start: Good, deep proper cleansing is key. If you don’t already have a Clarisonic Aria sonic cleanser ($199), it's damn worth the investment. On a tighter budget this manual version ($9) will get the job done.

Earth Tu Face Hydrate + Repair Balm ($68) is good for hydration on-the-go. Toss it in your bag and use on any dry spots including lips. Its blend of organic oils, waxes and butters smell and taste great.

Ursa Major Essential Face Wipes ($24) are a fantastic way to keep your face clean and hydrated while traveling, especially by plane which majorly dehydrates your skin and body.

Naturopathica Calendula Essential Hydrating Cream ($58) is perfect for healing dry skin with the anti-inflammatory calendula extract and borage seed oil. This would be highly recommended for skiers and outdoorsy types that get wind burn in the winter, or residents of Chicago.

Ren Ultra Moisture Day Cream ($55) is formulated with a moisture replenishing complex that leaves dry skin soothed and provides long lasting hydration and protects against free radicals that combat premature aging.

Arcona Golden Grain Gommage Exfoliator ($44) is non-drying and ultra soothing exfoliator that contains oatmeal and essential fatty acids.

SkinCueticals Hydrating B5 Gel ($74) for an extra moisture boost, this hydrating gel maximizes the benefits of a daily moisturizer and contains vitamin B5 to help with tissue repair.

Let us know if you have any other recommendations to add to the list!
